PPP chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Iran sanctions are not just a regional issue but one of wider global importance. He said lifting sanctions on Iran would benefit Pakistan and many other countries.
His remarks come as Pakistan prepares to host ceasefire talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad. All arrangements for the high-stakes discussions have been finalised. Referring to the recent US-Iran ceasefire, Bilawal said the world is now looking at Pakistan as a country playing a constructive role in promoting peace. He added that the international community expects Pakistan to help support global stability.
Bilawal also expressed hope that the Islamabad talks would lead to the lifting of sanctions on Iran. He said such a development would benefit not only Pakistan but also the wider international community. Bilawal said Pakistan is increasingly emerging on the global stage. He framed the planned Islamabad talks as part of a broader effort to position the country as a constructive diplomatic actor during a sensitive regional moment.

At the same time, he strongly criticised Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, saying India’s stance reflected narrow-mindedness. He also said the remarks exposed what he described as India’s frustration and limited outlook.
These comments added a regional political dimension to Bilawal’s wider message about diplomacy, sanctions and peace efforts. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also said Pakistan and India should not leave their disputes unresolved. He noted that despite repeated tensions, the two countries have reached ceasefires on multiple occasions.
He stressed that any ceasefire should serve as the starting point for a broader, lasting peace process. He further said that prolonged conflict has economically affected the people of both countries. That argument links Bilawal’s remarks on Iran, regional diplomacy and South Asian tensions to a larger call for stability through dialogue.
