Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), urged PTI supporters to vote for PPP in the upcoming February 8 elections. He portrayed the elections as a contest between two symbols: the ‘lion’ and the ‘arrow’.
While PTI lost its ‘bat’ symbol, PPP retained its ‘arrow’, and PML-N kept its ‘lion’ sign. Addressing a Lahore rally, Bilawal criticized PTI’s approach to politics, especially under Khan’s leadership. He empathized with PTI workers, blaming PML-N for their difficulties.
Since May 2023, numerous PTI supporters have been arrested following protests triggered by Imran Khan’s arrest. Bilawal appealed to PTI voters, promising an end to revenge politics. He recalled his party’s tradition of releasing political detainees upon gaining power.
Bilawal emphasized transforming political practices and uniting various forces. He vowed to surpass leaders nicknamed ‘Showbaz’ and ‘Wasim Akram plus’ by PTI’s Imran Khan. He challenged Lahore’s electoral tendencies and expressed his commitment to fighting for the people’s interests.
He recalled Lahore’s history of electing Benazir Bhutto and highlighted the repercussions of PPP’s removal. Bilawal pledged to continue his struggle for victory.
The PPP leader outlined a 10-point economic plan, including abolishing 17 ministries to save funds for public welfare. He proposed ending elite subsidies and reallocating these funds.
He called on PPP workers to promote the party’s manifesto, highlighting significant promises like building affordable housing, introducing solar energy benefits, and expanding social security programs.
The PPP has scheduled 30 election rallies across the country, led by Bilawal.
