Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari refuted that Pakistan “pursues or receives” discounted energy and oil from Russia.
Bilawal stated that the government has energy insecurity and is investigating numerous methods to enhance energy sources.
In contrast to his cabinet colleague, the foreign minister said Pakistan is not seeking inexpensive oil from the energy-rich country.
Bilawal told PBS NewsHour: “We face inflation and high gas prices. We have energy insecurity and are looking for new sources. We’ll take a long time to build Russian energy.”
When asked if Pakistan can connect with the U.S., expand relationships with China, and conduct business with Russia, the foreign minister stated Pakistan has a long history with China.
Musadik Malik, Pakistan’s state minister for petroleum, claimed on December 5 that Russia has agreed to discount crude oil, gasoline, and diesel.
Musadik Malik said the government is considering oil and gas purchases with Russia and hopes to make the specifics public by January 20.
The minister said they also held LNG export talks with Moscow gas businesses.
