US President Joe Biden, during the state visit to France alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, issued a stern warning about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ambitions beyond Ukraine. “Putin is not going to stop at Ukraine,” Biden asserted, highlighting the potential threat to all of Europe.
Biden reassured journalists that the US would stand firmly with Ukraine, emphasizing, “We will not, I say it again, walk away.” His commitment underscores Washington’s support for Kyiv amidst the ongoing conflict.
Macron expressed gratitude for Biden’s partnership, recognizing the US as a powerful ally that respects European interests.
The statements followed a meeting in Paris with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where both Biden and Macron pledged continued support for Ukraine.
Biden, who has been in France participating in the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, also spoke about preserving American democracy and drew parallels between World War II and the current situation in Ukraine.
The US president also highlighted the significance of international alliances like NATO, especially in light of his forthcoming presidential election against Donald Trump, who has shown disinterest in such organizations. Biden stressed, “We have shown the world again the power of allies and what we can achieve when we stand together.”
