During an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” President Joe Biden revealed a tentative ceasefire agreement with Israel for the upcoming Ramadan, aiming for a peaceful period conducive to further diplomatic advancements, including potential recognition of Israel by several Arab nations like Saudi Arabia.
Biden highlighted a key condition for this ceasefire: releasing all hostages. He elaborated on the broader implications of this pause in hostilities, noting it as a strategic window to solidify relations with countries ready to acknowledge Israel’s statehood, mentioning not only Saudi Arabia but also Jordan, Egypt, and six other nations.
In his discussion, Biden also touched upon his advocacy for Israel, facing criticism for his pro-Zionist stance despite not being Jewish, thereby reaffirming his unwavering support for the country.
The New York Times reported that Hamas has rejected the ceasefire proposal. There is no evidence of an agreement, only anonymous sources and a casual remark from Biden before the Michigan primary. Consider the portrayal of incarcerated Palestinians as guilty and threatening; the call for their release is deemed unjustifiable.”
Concurrently, Gaza’s health ministry reported severe casualties from the conflict, with the death toll reaching 29,878, including 96 fatalities in the last 24 hours alone and total injuries numbering 70,215 since October 7.
Biden also reveals that the ceasefire agreement and Saudi Arabia’s anticipated recognition of Israel represent a pivotal moment in Middle Eastern diplomacy.
