Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) non-bailable arrest warrant, was suspended by the Balochistan High Court (BHC) for two weeks on Friday.
The former prime minister’s appeal was heard by Judge Zaheeruddin Kakar, who also notified the parties and asked the lawyers to deliver the affidavit at the upcoming hearing.
Imran contacted the BHC regarding the first information report (FIR) lodged in Quetta. The petition asserted that “the case against the PTI chairman was registered illegally,” and the court was asked to “dismiss the case filed at the Bijli Road police station in the provincial capital.”

The legal team of the deposed premier and PTI Province President Qasim Khan Suri were also present during the submission of the motion to drop the lawsuit against the party chairman.
An FIR was filed against Imran after a citizen complained that he had used hate speech against government institutions.
Khalil Kakar, a resident of Nawa Killi, has submitted the FIR against Imran, and the Balochistan police have already headed for Lahore to arrest the former prime minister.
Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill, both members of the PTI, were charged with insulting government institutions in similar FIRs. Nonetheless, the Supreme Court ultimately opted to dismiss these cases.
