CCTV footage has surfaced, revealing the chaos following a bomb explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Kundalahalli, injuring nine individuals, who are now stable.
The incident, occurring at approximately 12:30 pm, was captured on camera, showing a bustling cafe atmosphere abruptly disrupted by the blast. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has confirmed the use of an improvised explosive device (IED) in this attack.
A camera inside the cafe documented the moments immediately before and after the explosion, where patrons waiting for service and a waiter about to place a dish on the counter were caught off guard by the explosion, causing debris to scatter and a palpable panic.
As the dust settled, footage showed a woman on the ground struggling to rise, highlighting the blast’s immediate human impact. Another angle from within the establishment captured the explosion’s effect on the open kitchen and waiting area, with customers and staff scrambling for safety.
Following the incident, bomb disposal units, National Investigation Agency operatives, and forensic teams were dispatched to the scene. Initial speculation about the blast’s nature was later clarified by the Chief Minister’s statement regarding the IED. At the same time, BJP’s Bengaluru South MP, Tejasvi Surya, suggested on X (formerly Twitter) that the explosion was indeed a bomb blast after speaking with the cafe’s founder.
Victims are receiving care at Brookfield Hospital, confirmed to be out of danger by Karnataka Police Chief Alok Mohan. Authorities have initiated an investigation under stringent anti-terrorism and explosive substances regulations.
