All educational institutions in Balochistan will be closed today (Monday) due to a province-wide strike prompted by the abduction of an 11-year-old student from Quetta.
The strike, organized jointly by the sit-in committee and traders association, and supported by several political parties, aims to protest against the kidnapping of the tribal elder Haji Raz Mohammad’s son.
The Department of Education has confirmed that all public and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, will remain shut as a precautionary measure to safeguard students and staff during the strike.
Previously, a similar strike was held on November 20, protesting the authorities’ failure to locate the abducted student, who was taken while returning home from school.
During the strike, a significant number of protesters, including the student’s family, rallied to demand urgent action from the authorities for the child’s recovery.
The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court has taken notice of the case, and several political leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the provincial government’s efforts, which have been unsuccessful for over ten days.
Additionally, in response to the ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, educational institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will close on Monday. The Islamabad Private Schools Association has announced this closure, attributing the decision to the volatile situation.
