A mild earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale struck parts of Balochistan’s Panjgur district early Wednesday, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The seismic centre said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 12 kilometres, with its epicentre located around 85 kilometres north of Panjgur’s district headquarters. Residents in nearby areas reported brief tremors, prompting some people to step outside as a precaution.
Authorities confirmed that there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage following the quake.
The latest tremor comes amid a series of recent seismic activities in Balochistan and adjoining regions. On December 15, a stronger earthquake measuring 5.2 struck parts of Karachi and Balochistan in the early hours, triggering panic among residents. The PMD said its epicentre was located in Sonmiani, Balochistan, at a depth of 12 kilometres and about 87 kilometres from Karachi.

Tremors from that earthquake were felt in several areas of Balochistan, including Hub, Vinder, and Gadani. A day earlier, on December 14, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake shook Sibi and the surrounding areas, with its epicentre 53 kilometres away.
On December 3, mild tremors were reported in the Khuzdar and Sibi districts. Khuzdar experienced a 3.3-magnitude quake at a depth of 15 kilometres, centred roughly 80 kilometres southwest of the city. Sibi recorded a stronger tremor of magnitude 4.0, with a depth of 10 kilometres and an epicentre about 50 kilometres southwest of the city.
Balochistan has also witnessed seismic activity in recent months. On November 8, tremors measuring 5.0 were recorded in Ziarat and surrounding areas. The PMD said the epicentre was located 67 kilometres northeast of Quetta.
