Boxers secured four gold medals, propelling Balochistan to third place at the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games. At the same time, Punjab maintained its lead in the overall medals tally at the Pakistan Sports Complex.
Punjab tops the standings with 138 medals (66 gold, 43 silver, and 29 bronze), followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 72 (17 gold, 25 silver, and 30 bronze). Balochistan is currently in third with 51 medals (14 gold, 12 silver, and 25 bronze).
Balochistan’s Samiullah clinched a gold medal at the boxing event by defeating Sindh’s Bilal Qambrani in the 48kg light flyweight final. Rehman Shah of Balochistan triumphed over Gilgit-Baltistan’s Sabir Mohammad in the 54kg category, while Ajman of Balochistan outperformed Muhammad Ali of Punjab in the 60kg lightweight final. Adul Rafay of Balochistan also secured the 67kg welterweight gold by defeating Sindh’s Zarar.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s Umar Raza Khan won the 51kg flyweight final against Balochistan’s Mohammad Idress, and Rohail Ahmed Khan of Punjab bested Balochistan’s Mohammad Zohaib in the 57kg category.
In the 63.5kg light welterweight final, Mujahid of Sindh took the gold by defeating Punjab’s Ibrahim Subhani. Another victory for Sindh came as Kamran defeated KP’s Hamza Khan in the 71kg light middleweight category.
The wrestling and karate finals also occurred on Tuesday.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir added one gold to their 24-medal tally, while Gilgit-Baltistan, still seeking their first gold, has earned 12 medals (two silver and 10 bronze).
The Games, featuring over 2,000 athletes from across the country ,including AJK and GB, are set to conclude on Thursday.
