Baloch Yakjehti Committee Sit-In Enters 3rd Day; Traffic Blocked on National Highway. Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langove: Government’s Doors Open for Talks
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) sit-in on the National Highway has entered its third day, disrupting traffic. The Balochistan government has invited the protesters for talks.
The sit-in began after protesters stopped attending the BYC’s Gwadar meeting last week. In Mastung, 14 protesters were injured when dispersed while heading to the coastal city.
Traffic towards Karachi, Khuzdar, Hub, Kalat, Surab, Turbat, Panjkur, and Gwadar has been disrupted. Additionally, all roads, including Makran Coastal Highway M8, are closed, causing cargo trucks and passenger cars to be stuck at various points.
The protesters demand the recovery of missing persons and an end to resource seizure. They also call for utilizing resources for Balochistan’s betterment.
Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langove stated that the government is open to talks, emphasizing that anti-state agendas are becoming evident. He warned that instigating innocent Baloch people against the state would not succeed.
Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) chief and Balochistan Assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman highlighted the constitutional right to protest. During a press conference, Rehman criticized the government for closing the province with containers, disrupting the BYC rally in Gwadar, and reports of firing. He demanded the restoration of mobile phone and internet services and urged the government to address the issue of missing persons.
