Pakistan’s star batter, Babar Azam, has been named a nominee for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award.
Babar, currently the leading ODI batter and ranks sixth in T20I, is nominated alongside India’s Arshdeep Singh, Australia’s Travis Head, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.
Despite a varied performance this year, Babar scored 738 runs across 24 matches, maintaining an average of 33.54. His efforts included six half-centuries and nearly a hundred boundaries, showcasing an improved strike rate of 133.21 runs per 100 balls.

His standout performance occurred during a three-match series in Ireland before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. He scored 75 runs from 42 balls, including six fours and five sixes, achieving a strike rate of 178.57.
India’s nominee, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, captured 36 wickets in 18 matches, boasting an impressive average of 13.5 and top bowling figures of 4-9. His best showing was in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where he and Jasprit Bumrah secured victory for India with exceptional death bowling.

Australia’s Travis Head, enjoying his first consistent year since his T20I debut in 2016, amassed 539 runs in 15 matches with a top score of 80, marking the second-highest annual run total by an Australian in the format.
Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, nominated for the third consecutive year, consistently delivered for his team. He scored 573 runs in 24 matches, highlighted by a top score of 133 not out during Zimbabwe’s unbeaten streak in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup sub-regional Africa Qualifier. He also took 24 wickets with best figures of 5-18.
