In the Pakistan Super League’s ninth edition, Babar Azam, captain of Peshawar Zalmi, scored an outstanding century against Islamabad United. This achievement and Arif Yaqoob’s impressive five wickets secured Zalmi an eight-run win, marking their third straight victory.
Azam dedicated his performance to his mother during the post-match event, who watched him play live for the first time. He highlighted her joy and considered her presence lucky.
The victory was set up by limiting Islamabad United to 193 after Zalmi posted a target of 202. Despite a strong partnership from Islamabad’s Colin Munro and Azam Khan, Yaqoob’s exceptional bowling in the 19th overturned the game in Zalmi’s favour.
