Azhar Mahmood, former Pakistan all-rounder, has been appointed head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, specifically for the imminent five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
During his illustrious career, Mahmood contributed to Pakistan cricket by playing in 164 international matches, where he secured 162 wickets and accumulated 2,421 runs. His tenure with the Pakistan cricket team from 2016 to 2019 as the bowling coach marked his previous involvement with the team.
The coaching team will also feature Mohammad Yousuf as the batting coach. Saeed Ajmal will continue as the spin bowling coach, following his contributions during the last tours of Australia and New Zealand. Wahab Riaz has been designated as the senior team manager for the series.
The series against New Zealand is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18 to April 27.
The support personnel for the Pakistan team for the New Zealand T20Is includes a comprehensive team comprising Wahab Riaz (senior team manager), Mansoor Rana (team manager), Mohammad Yousuf (batting coach), Saeed Ajmal (spin bowling coach), alongside other specialists in coaching, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, analysis, security, media and digital management, videography, medical, and massage therapy.
