Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso granted post-arrest bail setting the bond at Rs200,000.
At least six gunmen had shot dead 45 members of the Ismaili community on broad a community bus in Safoora Goth, on the outskirts of Karachi in May last year. The counter-terrorism department had arrested Ahmed from the city’s upscale Defence neighbourhood last year on charges of facilitating terrorists and recruiting for them.
During investigations, a joint investigation team established his role in working for a banned outfit, distributing their pamphlets and motivating people to join their ranks.
In a bail application filed through his lawyer, Ahmed argued that none of the charges against him had been proven.
