Pakistan’s cueist Asjad Iqbal’s undefeated streak at the IBSF Mongolia Snooker World Cup 2024 has ended. He lost in a tightly contested semi-final against Cyprus’ Michael Georgiou, who advanced to the final.
Asjad started the semi-final poorly, losing the first two frames. He then rallied back, gaining a 4-3 lead and nearing victory.
Despite holding a 65-point lead, Asjad unexpectedly lost the eighth frame.
In the final and decisive ninth frame, Georgiou took control and prevented Asjad from regaining momentum.
This victory allowed the Cypriot player to progress to the final, while Asjad’s impressive run in the tournament concluded abruptly.
Earlier, Asjad reached the semi-finals after defeating China’s Gao Yang 4-3 in the quarter-finals.
Conversely, Pakistani cueist Awais Munir exited the tournament in the quarter-finals, losing 4-2 to Iran’s Ali Ghareghazloo.
Both Pakistani competitors had commendable performances, advancing to the quarter-finals.

Awais Munir secured a 4-2 victory against Hong Kong’s Chau Ho Man.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Asjad won 4-1 over Hong Kong’s Cheung Yu Kei, while Awais defeated Chau Ho Man 4-2.
