Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday highlighted the need to build strong public trust in law enforcement agencies, according to Inter-Services Public Relations.
The army chief visited the National Police Academy in Islamabad, where he met officers of the Police Service of Pakistan. The federal interior minister and minister of state for interior also attended the event.
Upon arrival, senior police officials received Field Marshal Munir and presented a guard of honour. He later laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha in tribute to officers who lost their lives while protecting public safety and upholding the rule of law.
Munir praised the sacrifices made by police personnel in the fight against terrorism, crime, and internal security threats. He said their service remains vital to national stability.

During the visit, officials briefed him on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development (SHIELD). He also reviewed training programmes focused on capacity building and police modernisation.
While interacting with cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police, the army chief described the police as the first line of defence for citizens’ lives, property, and dignity. He urged young officers to uphold professionalism and integrity in their duties.
Addressing inspectors general, additional inspectors general, and senior police leadership, Munir stressed the need for closer inter-agency coordination and the adoption of modern policing practices. He said public confidence depends on a professional, people-centric police force.
He reaffirmed that enforcing law and order is a sacred responsibility and assured officers of the armed forces of the armed forces’ full support.
Senior police officials reiterated their commitment to improving policing standards, strengthening institutional capacity, and advancing reforms to address evolving security challenges.
