Asserting his political clout, Asif Ali Zardari, the Co-Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former President proclaimed that the forthcoming elections would be conducted on his terms.
In his address to the PPP ticket holders at Lahore’s Bilawal House, Zardari called for patience among the party ranks, assuring them that the elections would be held under his stewardship. “The PTI failed to orchestrate elections within two months,” he pointed out.
Zardari used the opportunity to critique those with a limited understanding of politics, emphasizing that every issue has a ‘political resolution’. He dismissed the idea that the military’s political involvement is an undue expense, suggesting such notions were spread to stifle progress.
During his address, Zardari outlined his economic vision for the country, revealing plans to boost foreign exchange reserves from $24 billion to $100 billion. He expressed confidence in his capacity to guide the economy successfully, referring to his extensive study of economics during his 14-year incarceration. During that time, he also gained insights into other societies and studied comparative history.
