YouTuber Asad Toor has reported a troubling incident involving the Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon’s television channel, “Awaaz News.”
According to Toor, at 2 AM on Saturday, three Vigo vehicles pulled up at the station, from which agents of a secret agency disembarked and conducted a raid on the studio premises, reportedly assaulting the producer and other staff members before departing the scene.
Further complicating the narrative, Asad Toor highlights the internal dynamics within the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), pointing out that there are currently three distinct factions. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, with Murad Ali Shah as the Chief Minister lead the first.
The second faction is led by Faryal Talpur, pushing for Nasir Shah to become the Chief Minister. The third faction is associated with Sharjeel Memon and is known for its alignment with the establishment.
The incident at Memon’s TV channel, involving direct physical aggression towards media personnel, raises serious concerns about media freedom and internal political stability within the party and the broader political landscape in Pakistan.
The surprising assault at a media outlet linked to a political figure considered part of the establishment faction adds intrigue and complexity to the ongoing factional disputes within the PPP.
