Asad Rehman Gilani has stepped into his new role as the chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), following the sudden resignation of his predecessor, Tariq Malik, just two days prior.
Nadra confirmed via a tweet that Gilani, a grade 22 officer in the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and current secretary of the Board of Investment, has begun his duties at the Nadra headquarters in Islamabad.
The experienced bureaucrat took the time to visit the Nadra Regional Head Offices, inspecting operational activities and instructing department heads to eliminate the ID card printing backlog by putting in extra work over the weekend, according to Nadra.
Gilani’s new role follows Malik’s unexpected departure on June 14, which occurred a full year before the end of his scheduled three-year term.
