World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been named the WTA Player of the Year for a second consecutive season. This caps a dominant 2025 campaign in which she remained at the top of the rankings throughout the year, the Women’s Tennis Association announced on Monday.
The Belarusian star delivered one of the most consistent seasons on the tour. She successfully defended her US Open title and led all players in match wins and titles. Sabalenka reached nine finals across the season. She finished runner-up at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros, while also advancing to the semi-finals at Wimbledon.
She captured four titles overall and recorded 63 match victories, underlining her authority on the women’s circuit. By retaining the year-end world number one ranking for a second straight year, Sabalenka also set a new single-season prize money record. She earned $15,008,519, according to the WTA.

Amanda Anisimova earned the WTA’s Most Improved Player award after a breakthrough year that established her among the sport’s elite. The American reached five finals, winning her first WTA 1000 titles in Doha and Beijing. She also advanced to her maiden Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Anisimova broke into the top 10 in July. She qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time and ended the season ranked fourth in the world.

In doubles, Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were recognised as Doubles Team of the Year. They secured their second Grand Slam title together at the Australian Open and reached the US Open final.
Belinda Bencic received the Comeback Player of the Year award following an impressive return to the tour after becoming a mother in April 2024. A title run at the Abu Dhabi Open highlighted her season. There, she defeated world number five Elena Rybakina in the final.
