Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s javelin throw star, won gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters. He recently revealed the truth behind the prizes announced for his historic achievement.
Nadeem confirmed that he has received all of his cash rewards but emphasised that the promised land plots have not yet been delivered. The 28-year-old athlete, who is Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medalist in track and field in decades, has received widespread recognition from the government, provincial authorities, and private organisations.
In a July 17, 2025, interview, Nadeem stated, “Out of all the prize announcements made for me, all the plot announcements were fake, and I did not receive them. However, I have received all the cash prizes that were announced.” Despite these challenges, Nadeem remains focused on his career and actively mentors aspiring athletes alongside coach Salman Butt.

Nadeem captured the attention of Pakistan by winning a gold medal, setting an Olympic record, and ending a long-standing drought in athletics. Officials and organisations promised rewards, including cash, vehicles, and land plots. While Nadeem acknowledged receiving financial incentives, he criticised the lack of land allocations, referring to them as “false” promises.
This revelation raises questions about accountability in honouring national heroes. Nadeem’s success not only boosted Pakistan’s global image but also inspired youth in sports.
Nadeem prioritises personal growth: “My entire focus is on myself, but apart from that, we train any youth who comes to us for training, and this training is given by my coach Salman Butt.” He and Butt offer free guidance to aspiring athletes, fostering talent development.
