Italian prosecutors have initiated action against several individuals aiding Russian Artyom Uss’s escape from Milan.
Under house arrest, Uss successfully fled Italy to the United States amidst extradition orders. Artyom Uss, accused by the US of illegal exportation of military technology to Russia, managed to evade his electronic tracking bracelet and leave Milan.
Investigators uncovered that the escape involved a well-coordinated plan with four cars transporting Uss across the Slovenian border. The incident has led to the issue of five arrest warrants targeting two Bosnians, a Slovenian, and two Serbians, as reported by Italian media.
International Cooperation and US Involvement
The operation, involving Italian police, Eurojust, and US authorities, highlights significant international collaboration. The US State Department has offered a reward of up to $7 million for information leading to Uss’s arrest or conviction.
Uss’s case has gained notable attention, especially considering the US Justice Department’s claims of finding exported US military technology in Ukraine battlefields. Following his disappearance, Uss announced his return to Russia, further complicating the legal proceedings and international relations in this case.
