Rawalpindi: General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Sunday said that the military offensive against the militants would continue till restoration of ultimate peace in the country.
The army chief said this while visiting frontline troops in Khyber Agency, where military operation is in progress.
General Sharif reviewed progress of military offensive in Khyber Agency and appreciated tribal brethren for fully support to evict terrorists from their areas.
He paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices rendered by the soldiers and appreciated the success of the military troops.
Pakistan army’s chief spokesman said 263 hardcore terrorists have been killed in ongoing military offensive against militants in Khyber Agency.
According to DG ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Pakistan army has taken full control of Mastul Pass linking Khyber Agency to Afghanistan.
He said terrorist strongholds have been reduced and the fight is in progress in last few pockets close to Afghan border.
Military troops have tightened noose on terrorists, who would not be allowed to escape, he added.
Bajwa said 35 soldiers embraced martyrdom since start of Operation Khyber-2.
He said Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), most of them foreign made, were recovered from the area, adding that 392 IEDs have been neutralized by special engineers unit.
