Armeena Khan’s spouse, Fesl Reza-Khan, has publicly criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for sharing a photograph of his wife and infant daughter on one of their official Twitter accounts and has called for an apology.
Pakistani Tv and film celebrities and numerous social media users have also demanded the removal of Armeena Khan’s picture from the PML-N’s social media account.
Reza-Khan posted a message directed at PML-N leadership, stating, “You are responsible for this account. You have shared an image of my baby to mock my wife, violating all standards of decency. My daughter and I have no interest in Pakistani politics. However, as a father, I will defend my child. Apologize immediately.”
In the controversial tweet, the PML-N wrote, “How will the twisted-minded youthias educate the upcoming generation and the fifth generation youthia will be at the lowest level.”
The social media team of PML-N faced widespread criticism for their actions, with many people urging them to remove Armeena’s photo.
The dispute began when Shayan Ali, a pro-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist, shared a video featuring PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz. The viral video depicted a woman tricking the PML-N leader into a selfie, recording their conversation and asking Maryam to say, “My family is thieves.”
As the video circulated, people criticized the woman’s behavior, labeling it a “lowly act,” while others supported her actions. In the meantime, Maryam appeared to handle the situation calmly.
Armeena retweeted the video, commenting that the “selfie lady” would have “disappeared” if this incident had occurred in Pakistan. She praised the UK for its freedom of speech and the ability to hold politicians accountable. However, many criticized Armeena’s stance, arguing that the woman’s actions were disrespectful and cynical rather than an exercise of free speech.
