Kylian Mbappe scored a late penalty as 10-man PSG beat Strasbourg on Wednesday.
Mbappe confirmed that he spoke with Messi after Argentina beat France on penalties in the 2022 World Cup final.
Mbappe said, “We talked after the game. I complimented him on his lifelong quest. I tried too, but failed, so be a good player. Celebrations aren’t my concern. I won’t waste energy on trifles. The club comes first. We’ll wait for Leo to win games and score again.”
Mbappe played the full 90 minutes against Strasbourg despite having a week off after the World Cup. Although, the French star said he finds the final loss difficult, “It won’t be digested,” he said.
“I told my coach and teammates that my club shouldn’t pay for the national team’s failure. But, unfortunately, our loss isn’t on PSG.”
“I attempted to return with positive energy after the crazy final game. We pushed because we could change things. Then we won.”
