Apple is expected to launch its latest operating system, iOS 18, likely in June, introducing AI capabilities. Unfortunately, not every older iPhone model will support this upgrade.
Only iPhones released after 2018, including the SE series, the 8 Plus, and later models, will be compatible. These devices, with advanced hardware, are equipped to efficiently manage intricate tasks.
The forthcoming update, potentially Apple’s most significant, will integrate Google A1 Gemini, enabling straightforward image creation and essay writing on smartphones.
The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), scheduled from June 10 to 14, is when Apple plans to introduce iOS 18.
Older iPhones lack the required processing power, as the A12 Bionic chip, introduced with the iPhone XR and XS in 2018, is necessary for iOS 18.
The update targets devices with the A12 Bionic chip and, later, models with the A11 and A10 chips, though their access to new features will be restricted.
iOS 18 Incompatible iPhones:
iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, SE (1st Gen)
iOS 18 Compatible iPhones:
From iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, and SE (2nd and 3rd Gen) to the latest iPhone 15 series.
