Apple unveiled iOS 18 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, introducing a suite of enhancements, including advanced Home Screen customization.
The iOS18 update, which will be released later this year, will allow improved icon management and integration of third-party app controls.
The new iOS version enhances the Control Center, leveraging Apple’s processors to boost functionality across supported iPhone models. Significant privacy upgrades, such as refined data-sharing permissions with apps, enable users to select specific contacts to share rather than their entire contact list.
Additionally, iOS 18 provides options to secure apps on the Home Screen, requiring biometric authentication or a passcode to access them. In messaging, iOS 18 integrates RCS messaging, improving text interaction between iPhones and Android devices, particularly in image quality and group chats. It also introduces text formatting options like bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough.
Siri is set to become more conversational with a revamped interface and enhanced capabilities, including ‘Type to Siri’ for more flexible user interaction. This feature is part of Apple’s broader integration of its privacy-focused AI technology, which will enhance on-screen awareness.
