An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) issued non-bailable arrest warrants on Tuesday for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, linked to incidents on May 9 that involved attacks on military installations.
ATC Judge Malik Ejaz Asif directed law enforcement to ensure Gandapur’s court appearance by April 2. The charges were filed at the City Police Station.
On the same day, the Peshawar High Court demanded the federal government furnish case details against Gandapur. The inquiry came from a division bench, including Justices Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Shakeel Ahmed, who responded to Gandapur’s petition for case clarity.
Justice Ahmed inquired about the ongoing issue, highlighting Gandapur’s unknown charges in Punjab, as mentioned by his counsel, Arshad Ahmed. The court suggested seeking bail for Punjab-related charges and criticized the lack of shared case details.
The FIA’s Director Legal Abdul Rehman acknowledged two ongoing inquiries against Gandapur in D.I.Khan. Justice Ibrahim emphasized Gandapur’s elected role and the trust the province’s people have placed in him.
The bench concluded by instructing Gandapur to provide case details, emphasizing the improbability of withholding such information from the provincial chief minister.
