Anti-terror working group on Monday would finalize its recommendations and present them before the Action Plan Committee.
A 14-hour long session of the parliamentary committee’s working group was held on Sunday in order to formulate recommendations and construe the role of citizens and speedy trial of terrorists to counter terrorism.
As many as 16 laws pertinent to terrorism including Pakistan Protection Bill were reviewed at the working group. According to the sources, role of the citizens has also been considered to fight against terrorism in addition to the measures that must be taken to ensure witness’s protection in terror-related cases.
It was also suggested to instate further terrorism courts for speedy trial of the terrorists while the establishment of military court in specific areas for specific situations was also proposed.
Amendment in the tenancy law and its rigorous implementation was also advised.
The working body also discussed the possibility to resume National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in addition to the formulating a group of experts on the pattern of the working group.
Working group will forward all its recommendations to the parliamentary committee which would thenceforth be approved after being reviewed.
