The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Lahore has filed a graft case against several individuals, including the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. Other individuals implicated in the case include Ibrahim Maneka, Farah Gogi, Tahir Khurshid, Ahmed Aziz Tarar, Saleha Saeed, Usman Muazzam, and Sohail Khwaja.
According to ACE, these individuals allegedly abused their power to accept bribes amounting to millions of rupees for the appointments and transfers of high-level government officials. The money collected from these illicit activities said to be approximately Rs450 million, was deposited in various banks by Farah Gogi, as detailed in ACE’s First Information Report (FIR).
Earlier this week, Buzdar and other PTI notables, such as Shireen Mazari and Ali Haider Zaidi, reportedly declared his resignation from PTI and his exit from politics. This decision followed the events of May 9, marked by violent protests and attacks on civil and military institutions.
In a press conference, Buzdar expressed his support for the Pakistan Army and condemned the May 9 disturbances. Despite his current controversy, the former Punjab chief minister called for unity and the setting aside differences for the country’s progress. Over the past month, numerous PTI leaders have resigned, left the party, or entirely stepped back from politics.
