Following two recent power breakdowns in Karachi, another major power breakdown hit the city again in Sunday’s wee hours.
According to sources in K-Electric, the power supply system again collapsed after a technical hang-up in Bin Qasim Thermal Power Plant triggered the failure of 15 grid stations.
Power crisis is likely to further intensify as electricity supply disconnected to Industrial Zone including Port Qasim and Pakistan Steel Mills throwing these areas into the dark.
The power supply to large parts of Landhi, Korangi, Karachi airport and the adjoining areas discontinued.
The megacity areas that are afflicted with the blackout are from Gharo to Karachi Industrial Area, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bhains Colony, Port Qasim, Quaidabad, Malir and Karachi airport.
Moreover, the technical snag has affected Liaquatabad and its adjacent areas, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, PECHS and some areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
K-Electric officials said the restoration work is in progress in many areas.
