A video of a BMW transforming into robots from popular sci-fi movies intrigued industrialist Anand Mahindra. The Mahindra Group Chairman highlighted the vehicle’s creation in 2016 by a Turkish firm, Letvision. “A real-life ‘transformer’ by a Turkish R&D company.
We should explore such fun in our R&D!” he tweeted, tagging Velu Mahindra, the company’s President of Automotive Technology.
The tweet, showcasing the BMW’s ‘Transformer’ capability, quickly amassed over 805,000 views. Users expressed awe, some praising the innovation and others emphasizing its demonstration purpose.
This car, named Letrons, built by Letvision in 2016, is a full-scale, drivable BMW Transformer with remote control and various movement capabilities. The transformation process combines hydraulics and electric motors, taking just under a minute. However, once transformed, the Letron only poses and cannot walk.
