Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has publicly stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the military establishment that supported it are responsible for the current “destruction in Pakistan.”
Speaking to media outside Parliament House, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader asserted that “the PTI founder and those who brought him to power in 2018 are responsible for the destruction in Pakistan.”
He specifically referenced former Lt General Faiz Hameed, noting he is “currently on trial,” and declared that “the establishment of that time is responsible for all this ruin.”
Despite these allegations, Sanaullah said holding these actors accountable is not the government’s current priority. “Our current focus is stabilising the country,” he emphasized.
Downplaying IMF Corruption Report
Sanaullah dismissed a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) report on corruption in Pakistan, stating it “has no significance.” He claimed no major corruption scandals emerged during the current or previous PDM government.

This position contrasts with Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb’s commitment to address all concerns raised in the IMF report, which warned that corruption and weak institutions continue to undermine Pakistan’s economy.
Denial of Imran Khan Transfer Rumors
The PML-N leader refuted speculation about former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health or potential transfer from Adiala Jail. Sanaullah stated Khan is “completely healthy and even exercising,” and confirmed the government has no proposal to move him to another facility.
He defended restrictions on Khan’s visitors by asking, “If a prisoner sitting in jail is planning an assault on Islamabad, how can meetings be allowed?”
Sanaullah concluded with allegations against India, accusing it of running “Operation Sindoor” through Afghanistan after its defeat in a May conflict, though he provided no evidence for these claims.
