Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday dissolved the Rabita Committee in Karachi over their inability to fulfill their responsibilities and apparent glitches in organisational matters.

“MQM’s Rabita Committee incharge Kaiful Wara, Abdul Haseeb and Arif Khan will remain members of the committee,” a statement posted on MQM’s website said.

The statement quoting Altaf Hussain requested members of the Rabita Committee to refrain from visiting party headquarters, Nine Zero. Further, it said, “A decision regarding Rabita Committee in London will be made within the next two days.”

“Senior leaders of the party should submit proposals to the party headquarters today for reconstitution of the committee,” the MQM chief added.

On Wednesday, the MQM chief upset with his party leaders over apparent glitches in organisational matters, directed offices to be shut down withdrawing the decision a few hours later.

According to sources, most of the anger was directed at the Rabita Committee for not working effectively and not responding to the ongoing situation faced by the party. Altaf was also angry because of the change in the date of an event, which the party was supposed to hold.
