A catastrophic fire in an oil refinery unit at Alipur Chattha broke out, sparking a large-scale firefighting operation.
Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the location, as sources revealed the alarming severity of the situation.
As per preliminary reports, five fire tenders from Rescue 1122 are currently engaged in the firefighting operation, battling to control the fierce blaze that erupted at the refinery’s boiler and heating chamber. It is estimated that the oil chamber of the refining unit was housing around 25,000 litres of crude stock at the time of the incident, posing a serious challenge to the rescue efforts.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, as rescue sources have been unable to establish any immediate reasons for the ignition.
Flashback to the Recent Oil Tanker Fire Incident in Gujranwala
The incident brings to mind a similar fire outbreak in Gujranwala last month. A fire erupted in an oil tanker near a plastic factory, severely injuring five individuals. The factory workers who suffered in the incident have been identified as Akram, Zeeshan, Shaukat, Sajjad, and Shakir.
The incident occurred near Mafi Wala Chowk in Gujranwala, where the oil tanker fire caused havoc. It took the concerted efforts of rescue teams and six fire tenders to get the fire under control finally.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of a burn centre in Gujranwala, the critically injured factory workers had to be transported to Lahore for proper medical treatment.
