One of the country’s leading couturier and fashion designer Ali Xeeshan, who has off late been having the time of his life, undoubtedly on a career high, been shocasing his fabulous prêt collections abroad and hence mustering a heavy international clientele, says he’s overwhelmed by the response he gets for his fashion creations not just in his home country but abroad as well.
Speaking about the increasing number of fashion shows he’s doing overseas, which included the coveted Mercesed Benz Fashion Week, Doha and the recent Fashion Parade in London, Xeeshan says, “I have done several fashion shows abroad but I think my experience in London was overwhelming.” Xeeshan walked the ramp at the Fashion Parade, with the youngest British Pakistani Burberry model Laila Naim, who was dressed to perfection in a gold and white outfit with a yellow ribbon belt. “Laila was an absolute darling. She is a superstar and so adorable. She was so confident that she made me nervous on the ramp,” he said.
Xeeshan has been busy working in his home country too, with stunning creations he made for the PIA Fashion Makeover event only but recently. Although his collection wasn’t chosen for the final wardrobe, it was lauded in full by the jury. He is also working on the collection for the PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week, which will take place at the end of this year. “Yes. I am planning and have been working on my collection for PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week. The collection is called ‘Toofan’. It’s very detailed and intricate and a very new version of my aesthetics.”
More than anything, what I’m truly excited about is the fact that the designer has been approached by international fashion icon and Grammy award-winning singer Rihanna’s stylist to make her wardrobe. Confirming the news, Xeeshan said,” I have been approached by Rihanna’s stylist to make dresses for her and also especially the glasses at the ramp during Fashion Parade really caught her attention.”
I ask the designer out of curiosity why he hasn’t come up with a lawn collection as yet, considering he has a strong grasp on prêt and couture already and has me under the impression that there really is nothing he cannot do when it comes to fashion, he replies, “Honestly, I think lawn is a bit overrated but you never know I might join the squad next year.”
Xeeshan sums up by giving ladies summer styling tips, “I would really want to see Pakistani women in summer jackets. They are easy breezy and help you look really cool to top off any look whether casual or professional.”
