Businessman Ali Tareen has announced his decision to withdraw from the auction for the two new teams joining the Pakistan Super League. He shared the update via social media ahead of the auction.
Ali Tareen said he made the decision after careful thought and consultations with his family. As a result, he will not participate in today’s bidding process.
He made it clear that if he returns to the PSL, it will only be to represent South Punjab. He said the region holds deep personal significance for him and remains central to his identity.

“South Punjab is my home, and my heart belongs there,” Tareen said in his message. He added that he plans to attend Pakistan Super League Season 11 matches as a spectator rather than as a franchise owner.
Ali Tareen also addressed speculation about his future involvement in the league. He said he would be fully prepared to take part when Multan Sultans becomes available for sale again.
His announcement comes amid heightened interest in the PSL’s expansion, as new franchises attract strong bids and growing commercial attention. While stepping aside for now, Ali Tareen’s comments suggest he has not closed the door on a future return aligned with his regional roots.
