Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen sparked buzz on X by poking fun at captain Mohammad Rizwan after the team’s first Pakistan Super League (PSL) defeat of the season. Despite Rizwan’s unbeaten 105 off 61 balls, Multan Sultans fell short in a high-scoring thriller against Karachi Kings at National Bank Stadium.

Rizwan’s knock, packed with nine fours and five sixes, powered Multan to 234-3. However, Karachi Kings’ James Vince stole the show with a blazing 101 off 43 balls, backed by Khushdil Shah’s 60, chasing down 235 with four balls to spare. The loss marked a rare stumble for the Sultans in PSL 10.

Tareen’s Viral Jabs

Post-match, Tareen took to X with a playful jab: “Learned a lot – especially from Vince and Khushdil!” He said, “At least we fielded, I guess!” The tweets went viral, splitting fans. Some enjoyed the humour, while others criticized Tareen, referencing his earlier controversial remarks about the PSL franchise model.

Earlier in 2025, Tareen called the Pakistan Cricket Board’s franchise system a “rental arrangement,” drawing scrutiny. His latest posts reignited debates about owners’ public statements during team setbacks, with fans questioning their impact on team morale.

An amazing 💯 by Vince. Respect.

Tareen’s lighthearted trolling highlights the growing role of social media in cricket banter. Yet, it also underscores the fine line team owners walk when engaging fans during high-stakes tournaments like PSL.
