The Ali Amin Gandapur security withdrawal has triggered political debate after the former chief minister confirmed that his entire security detail was recalled despite ongoing threat alerts in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to official sources, a 16-member security squad assigned to Gandapur was withdrawn late at night. The team included two jammer operators, eight gunmen and six drivers.
Two officers had been deployed to secure his brother, MNA Faisal Amin Gandapur, while the remaining personnel were assigned to the former CM.
The Ali Amin Gandapur security withdrawal was reportedly carried out on the instructions of the current Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi. Chief Security Officer Irfan Baloch was directed to close the deployment, and the decision was implemented within minutes.

Speaking to ARY News, Gandapur confirmed the move and described it as “unjustified.” He stated that his previous security setup included 14 staff members, two double-cabin vehicles and a jammer, which he considered necessary given the sensitive security environment in Dera Ismail Khan.
He said threat alerts had been issued due to counter-terrorism policies applicable to a former chief minister. Despite this, he claimed the provincial government removed the security arrangement.
Gandapur added that he was informed the orders came directly from the Chief Minister’s office. He further remarked that even if security or vehicles were offered again, he would refuse them.
The development follows the recent transfer of District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahbzada and reports of additional administrative changes at the district level. Political observers suggest that the security withdrawal may be viewed within the broader provincial political context.
Authorities have not issued a detailed public explanation regarding the rationale behind the decision.
