Ali Amin Gandapur resigned as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), following his removal as PTI’s KP party president by party founder Imran Khan. Gandapur shared his resignation letter on X, reaffirming his loyalty to Khan. “In respectful compliance with my leader’s orders, it is my honour to tender my resignation,” he wrote.
In his farewell note, Gandapur highlighted his achievements since taking office in March 2024. “The province faced financial ruin and terrorism,” he stated. “With Imran Khan’s guidance, my cabinet and bureaucracy achieved financial stability and countered militancy.” He cited mega projects in a province once labelled a warzone, emphasising nation-building efforts.
In respectful compliance of the orders of my leader, and Founding Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, it is my honour to tender my resignation from the Office of the Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Gandapur thanked his cabinet, assembly members, and KP bureaucracy for tackling governance challenges. “I served with absolute sincerity for the people of KP and Pakistan’s best interests,” he said, concluding with “Pakistan Zindabad, PTI Paindabad.”
The resignation follows internal PTI rifts. Gandapur accused Khan’s sister, Aleema, of agency ties, while she countered with allegations. Khan expressed concerns over KP governance, including corruption allegations in projects such as the Rs40 billion Upper Kohistan scam. Junaid Akbar Khan replaced Gandapur as PTI’s KP president on January 25, 2025.
