Aleema Khan, the sister of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, led a protest sit-in at Rawalpindi’s Factory Naka on Tuesday. Police prevented her and PTI workers from proceeding to Adiala Jail for a scheduled meeting with the former prime minister.
For several weeks, court-mandated visitation rights on Tuesdays and Thursdays have been consistently denied to Imran Khan’s family, lawyers, and party members. This has prompted recurring protests near the prison, which police have sometimes dispersed using water cannons and baton charges.
In a video statement posted on PTI’s official social media, Aleema Khan stood before a police-installed riot fence. She alleged her brother was being held in “solitary confinement.”

Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023. He is currently serving a 14-year sentence in the £190 million corruption case. His wife, Bushra Bibi, is also serving a sentence in the same case. Furthermore, he faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act for the May 9, 2023 events.

The family has repeatedly expressed concern over his jail conditions. These concerns were echoed by a United Nations special rapporteur, who warned that Imran Khan’s detention conditions could amount to “inhuman or degrading treatment.”
