Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, for questioning about alleged anti-state activities on social media. The agency issued a notice on July 16, 2025, requiring her to appear at its Lahore office on July 17 at 11:30 AM.
The inquiry, dated May 27, 2025, examines her involvement in campaigns that oppose the state. Failing to comply with the inquiry could lead to legal action under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code for disobeying a summons. This development comes on the heels of Aleema’s recent comments regarding Imran Khan’s conditions in jail, in which she claimed that both he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are receiving harsh treatment.
The NCCIA notice directs Aleema to record a defensive statement in Inquiry No. 2531/25. Officials claim her social media posts promote anti-state narratives. The agency, under the Ministry of Interior, emphasised that absence would imply no defence, potentially escalating to further proceedings.

On July 15, Aleema met with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail and subsequently spoke to the media to share his messages. She stated that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are facing considerable hardships in jail. Imran stressed the importance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party concentrating on the movement and resolving internal conflicts, as he is unhappy with the ongoing disputes. Aleema also mentioned that Imran is in solitary confinement and has been denied access to newspapers and television.
Aleem Khan’s claims contrast with the Adiala Jail report, which states that Imran is receiving superior facilities. The summons follows reports of dissatisfaction within the PTI regarding Aleema’s interference in party matters. Her role in conveying messages from Imran has sparked debates about leadership dynamics.
