Syrian security forces poured into the Alawite heartland along the Mediterranean coast on March 8, 2025, responding to a war monitor’s report of over 500 civilian deaths in recent days.

The Alawite Killings Syria crisis erupted Thursday when clashes flared between the new government and gunmen loyal to ousted president Bashar al-Assad, an Alawite himself. With order fraying, the deployment targets hotspots like Latakia, Jableh, and Baniyas, state media SANA confirmed.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights pegged the carnage at 532 Alawite civilians, slain in “executions” by security and pro-government fighters across coastal Syria and the Latakia mountains. “Looting of homes and properties” trailed the bloodshed, the UK-based group said.

The toll since Thursday hit 745, including 93 government troops and 120 Assad fighters. Residents report ongoing civilian killings, painting a grim picture of chaos in the Alawite Killings in Syria saga.

Baniyas local Samir Haidar, 67, told AFP armed groups—some foreign—stormed homes, killing his two brothers and niece. “Five minutes later, I’d be dead,” he said, fleeing to a Sunni area. An Alawite and ex-political prisoner under Assad’s rule, Haidar’s escape underscores the violence’s reach.

SANA says forces aim to “restore order,” but with 500+ dead, can they? The Alawite Killings: Syria crisis grips a rattled nation. The Alawite Killings in Syria, 532 massacred, the coast locked down shocks the world.
