Karachi: An Al Qaeda commander was among two terrorists killed during an operation by Rangers, Police and intelligence agencies in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city.
According to intelligence sources the operation was conducted after receiving information of the presence of Al Qaeda commander Ahad in the area. During the operation terrorists opened fire when their flat was raided as a result of which a personnel of the intelligence agencies was martyred.
The terrorists were killed when law enforcement agencies retaliated. According to intelligence sources the killed terrorist Ahad was the leader of Al Qaeda activity in Karachi and involved in the Safoora attack.
During the operation a woman was also taken into custody.
Intelligence agencies have traced the owner of the flat, sources said. The flat is owned by a person named Anwar who is the former union head of the apartment building.
Sources further said that there terrorists were planning on carrying out a major attack in Karachi.
