Akon was briefly arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia, last week. Official jail records confirm authorities detained the Senegalese-American singer, whose legal name is Aliaune Thiam.
The Chamblee Police Department took the musician into custody after automated security systems identified a vehicle with an outstanding warrant. The detection occurred at Tint World, an automotive styling centre where the car was parked.
Police officers responded to the automated alert and apprehended the “Locked Up” singer at the location. According to official statements, Akon cooperated fully with authorities during the arrest process.

The musician remained in jail for approximately six hours before being released. He underwent standard booking procedures before departing the facility. The specific nature of the outstanding warrant hasn’t been publicly disclosed. The Roswell Police Department issued the warrant, though the reasons behind it remain unspecified.
This incident follows previous traffic-related issues for the artist in the same region. Several months ago, police discovered Akon driving with a suspended license after his Tesla Cybertruck experienced battery failure on a road in Roswell.
The fifty-two-year-old musician hasn’t publicly addressed the recent arrest. His social media channels continue operating normally, featuring standard promotional content and personal updates.
Akon currently maintains his scheduled professional commitments, including an ongoing tour in India. The international performance schedule appears unaffected by last week’s legal incident in the United States.
