AJK President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary called on the international community to proactively resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute, in line with United Nations resolutions, to ensure regional and global peace and security.
Addressing the Legislative Assembly, AJK President expressed concern over the severe human rights violations in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), highlighting India’s rapid regional demographic changes since its illegal actions on August 5, 2019, including altering the Muslim-majority population.
AJK President emphasized that the people of IIOJK, who have made tremendous sacrifices, would not submit to oppression, and their struggle would eventually lead to freedom from India’s control. He urged the international community to take notice of India’s malicious activities, such as granting citizenship to over four million non-residents and changing delimitations to install a Hindu chief minister.
Given that both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers, AJK President stressed the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue to prevent a potential global catastrophe. Furthermore, he encouraged the people of AJK to use mainstream and social media to raise awareness of human rights abuses in IIOJK and draw international attention to the ongoing problem.
The Legislative Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution requesting the international community to acknowledge the human rights violations in IIOJK and work towards a fair and lasting solution.
