Pakistani actress Aima Baig has encountered criticism following her performance at a concert in Jeddah just before undertaking the Umrah pilgrimage.
The concert was part of the “Jeddah Season,” which included a Pakistan and Indonesian musical Night. The event showcased performances from prominent Indonesian singer Lady Rara, Pakistani artists Bilal Saeed and Aima Baig, and the Sono Dance Group.
The event drew a large audience from Pakistan, Indonesia, and beyond and featured performances by Pakistani comedian Kashif Khan and his daughter, TikTok star Rabeeca Khan.
Baig, after performing her popular tracks, including “Kaif o Suroor”, at the concert, shared images of her performance online. Subsequently, she travelled to Saudi Arabia for Umrah and posted photos from the pilgrimage on social media.
The sequence of events sparked significant backlash on social media. Critics condemned her for documenting her Umrah journey and questioned the sincerity of her pilgrimage, particularly critiquing her choice to wear fancy nails during the sacred ritual.
The online debate continues, with opinions split on the appropriateness of her actions and the validity of the criticisms she has received.
