Ahmed Waqas Janjua’s wife, the Coordinator for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has disclosed that her husband was aware of his impending arrest beforehand.
According to her, Rauf Hassan had provided the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) with lists of certain PTI members.
In an exclusive conversation with senior journalist Asad Toor, Janjua’s wife explained that Ahmed had learned through undisclosed sources that Rauf Hassan had given the FIA lists of party members. The detention of Rizwan Malik further corroborated this information, which heightened their concerns about an ongoing crackdown against PTI’s team.
She revealed that an international media representative had informed Ahmed that Rauf Hassan, PTI’s Secretary of Information, had submitted lists of party members to the FIA. Initially, the party did not publicly address this issue, but Ahmed had raised it with the central media team. While there was initial disbelief, the subsequent arrests of party members confirmed the validity of Ahmed’s concerns.
Ahmed Janjua’s wife also mentioned that her husband had advised her before his arrest to hire Imaan Mazari as his lawyer and not to rely on the party for assistance in case he was detained.
Ahmed Waqas Janjua was arrested on charges of involvement in PTI’s alleged anti-state propaganda. The Ministry of Interior has confirmed his arrest and announced that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is being formed to investigate the matter further.
