Afghanistan wants better relations with all its neighbors, including Pakistan, and we believe it has the means to do so, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said Tuesday.
His statement came a day after the National Security Committee (NSC), led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, ordered Kabul not to provide sanctuaries to Pakistani terrorist groups.
Pakistan has seen a spike in terror attacks, notably in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan after the TTP ended the truce.
Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah remarked, “Islamabad may target the TTP in Afghanistan if Kabul doesn’t dismantle them.”
The Taliban spokesperson expressed disappointment over recent Pakistani statements and stated they are attempting to prevent Afghan soil from being used against Pakistan or any other country.
“Pakistan also must handle the situation and avoid unfounded and provocative statements,” he added, adding that such statements and mistrust are not in anyone’s interest.
The Afghanistan government prioritizes peace and stability in the entire area, the Taliban spokesperson said and vowed to continue its efforts.
